De Real Ting Cafe
"De Real Ting Cafe is the most formal of the
local Caribbean restaurants. Servers take your order at your
table. Because it's downtown on Monroe Street, the crowd is more
mixed than most.
It serves beer and wine, and on Friday, Saturday and
Sunday nights, the cafe is as much a club as it is a restaurant,
with live reggae in the big back room.
Jamaica-New Jersey native Hanif Kissonlal opened De
Real Ting Cafe in downtown Jacksonville in 1997.
The signature dishes at De Real Ting, he said, are the jerk chicken
and jerk fish.
....De Real Ting Cafe is adding Sunday afternoon jerk
parties outside, with the chicken cooked long and slow in the
courtyard. "
